Zapier: Send SMS to a list for new Google Calendar events
Video conferencing is the way of the future for many businesses and organisations. For those that are entering the space for the first time, Google Meet (formerly Hangouts) may be the best option available.
With this Zapier SMS integration, you can combine the immediacy of text messaging with the simplicity of Google Calendar and Meet, reminding attendees to join calls. Use it for education, classes, personal training sessions, team and client meetings, and more.
What is Google Calendar and Meet?
Google Calendar is a free time-management and scheduling calendar service, and Google Meet is an enterprise-grade video conferencing built on Google’s robust and secure global infrastructure on G Suite but became free in April 2020.
How it works
When you create a new Google Calendar event with a Google Meet video conferencing call, Zapier automatically triggers an SMS send to a Burst SMS list of your choice.
It’s completely optional, but we recommend that you schedule the text message about an hour before the event time. Even if your attendees decide not to join by phone, the message can still serve as an SMS reminder.
Important note: Keep in mind that this integration will trigger anytime there’s a new event on your calendar. We recommend that you set up a separate Google Calendar for this. Or, if you have a paid Zapier subscription, you can set a filter so that only certain events created by you will trigger. Learn more in our support tutorial below.
