In support of tick-bourne illness research
The celebratory spirit was in the air last Friday, as we capped off our financial year by giving back to the community. We gathered our closest friends and family together to help jump start a Tick Bite Awareness Campaign, by delivering a $2000 contribution to the Karl McManus Foundation.
The Cause
Australian Lyme Like Illness (Vectosis) is a debilitating disease which causes chronic pain and fatigue. The Karl McManus Foundation is an initiative close to our hearts, as they fight these tick-borne diseases by:
- Raising awareness
- Facilitating and advocating research
- Ensuring the translation of evidence-based medical research into Australian policy and practice
- Educating health professionals and the public about tick bite prevention
- Encouraging differential diagnosis of chronic diseases that borreliosis (Lyme disease, Lyme Borreliosis or relapsing fever) and co-infections can imitate
Tick-bite prevention is still in its early stages here in Australia. That’s why we’re raising funds to produce of a series of commercials, which will educate the Australian public about the dangers of tick bites and associated Vectosis. Our goal is to start the production process in 4 weeks.
